Tameeka Cora

Tameeka Cora is currently studying for her Diploma of Professional Dance Performance for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples at NAISDA. She belongs to the Minjungbul Bundjalung and Dunghutti Tribes from Northeast and the Mid-North Coast of New South Wales and has family ties to Tanna Island in Vanuatu. She grew up learning and performing dances from the Nunukul people of Minjerribah and continued as a member of Biren Cultural Group on the Gold Coast from 2020 to 2023. During this time, she had the opportunity to take part in a Contemporary Indigenous Dance Performance at The Bleach Festival with Karul Projects where she discovered her passion for Dance.

During her NAISDA training, Tameeka has performed in dance films and mainstage productions including NAISDA’s 2023 End of Year show ‘ATI’, directed by Deon Hastie and the 2024 production of ‘The Trees have Voices, the Feet have Ears’, directed by Vicki Van Hout. Tameeka featured in ‘Fire’ and ‘Smoke’ choreographed by Henrietta Baird. She has also participated in Masterclasses and Dance Intensives with Circa Cairns, Karul Projects, PPY, Bangarra Dance Theatre and Gravity and Other Myths.

Tameeka has trained with a range of diverse dance artists including Lee Searle, Vicki Van Hout, Chima Valavanis, and Cultural Tutors from New South Wales, Nyinyikay in Northeast Arnhem Land, and Moa Island in the Torres Strait.

Tameeka aspires to strengthen her skills and knowledge by studying under professional choreographers, with the aim of advancing towards a professional dance career.
