NAISDA is an approved Smart and Skilled training provider
NAISDA courses are subsidised by the NSW Government through the Smart and Skilled Funding contract. This means eligible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students can undertake government-funded training at NAISDA with no course tuition fees.
This funding helps remove financial barriers so students can focus on developing their skills and gaining nationally accredited qualifications.
Smart and Skilled qualifications at NAISDA
The following NAISDA qualifications are delivered with Smart and Skilled funding:
- 10988NAT Certificate III in Dance Practice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples
- 11051NAT Certificate IV in Dance Practice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples
- CUA40425 Certificate IV in Live Production and Technical Services
- 11052NAT Diploma of Professional Dance Performance for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples
- 11372NAT Advanced Diploma of Professional Dance Performance for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples

Who is eligible?
To be eligible for Smart and Skilled training, you must:
- identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person
- be aged 15 years or older
- no longer be at secondary school
- be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, New Zealand citizen or eligible humanitarian visa holder
- hold (or apply for) a Unique Student Identifier (USI).
Applying from outside NSW?
NAISDA welcomes applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from across Australia.
If you currently live outside NSW, you can still apply to study at NAISDA. If you are offered a place and enrol, your training will be undertaken in NSW. Provided you meet the Smart and Skilled eligibility criteria, you will be eligible for Smart and Skilled subsidised courses.

What does this mean for NAISDA students?
Eligible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students studying a Smart and Skilled-funded qualification at NAISDA do not pay course tuition fees for the above qualifications.
Smart and Skilled funding applies to tuition fees only. Students may still need to cover personal expenses associated with studying, such as travel, accommodation or other living costs.
ABSTUDY can assist with costs including incidental allowance, rental assistance, living expenses and travel costs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians undertaking study in an accredited training organisation such as NAISDA. Funding assistance can be subject to application and family circumstances.

As an approved Smart and Skilled provider, NAISDA is committed to delivering high-quality training that meets the requirements of the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) and the NSW Government’s Smart and Skilled program.
All Smart and Skilled students and potential students have the right to expect the training they receive to be consistent with the national VET regulator’s requirements (the Australian Skills Quality Authority – ASQA), and the requirements of Smart and Skilled contract.
