Maria belongs to the Central Arrernte Country in Alice Springs and Jaru Country in East Kimberley. She was born in Darwin, her home base now is Innisfail Far North Queensland on Mamu Country. She started dancing in 2019 and is currently studying at NAISDA. She has been trained by Deon Hastie, Kerrie Smith, Sean Byrnes, Angie Diaz and NAISDA Cultural Trainers Aba Bero, Berthalia Reuben, Casey Natty and Jo Clancy. Highlights to date include her 2023 performance in ATI at Carriageworks, Sydney, NAISDA’s Remote Cultural Residency to Nyinyikay, North East Arnhem Land and Masterclasses with Alvin Rangel specialising in Horton Technique, as well as workshops with Karul Projects and Australian Dance Theatre (ADT). She is working towards completing her Advanced Diploma and aspires to work alongside Australia’s leading industry and dance artists.
