Raised on Yuwaalaraay Country, Joshua Doctor is a Yuwaalaraay, Gamilaraay and Gubbi Gubbi man from Lightning Ridge, North West NSW. Joshua is currently studying for his Advanced Diploma in Dance Practice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples at NAISDA. In 2022, he successfully auditioned for Bangarra Dance Theatre’s Dance Clan, and was chosen to work with, and perform for, emerging choreographer Ryan Pearson in his work ‘5 Minute Call’. This experience is a career highlight to date. Beyond dance, Josh is passionate about composing music and filmography. He enjoys incorporating his soundscapes into his own choreography, as when collaborating with other artists. In 2023, Josh worked with Australian Ballet Telstra Emerging Choreographer (TEC) finalist Glory Tuohy-Daniell, composing music for her piece. Josh is also an Independent Artist in the Legs On The Wall, Legs Upper Program for 2024.
