Jorja Burgess

My name is Jorja Burgess. I am from the small town of Branxton in the Hunter Valley. I am a proud Aboriginal woman from Bunjalung Country. I also acknowledge my German, English and Irish heritage.

Since the age of three, I have been immersed in the world of dance, exploring various styles including jazz, ballet, tap, contemporary, urban, and heels. Throughout seven years of dedicated practice, I have achieved high levels in tap and ballet exams. Additionally, I have showcased my talents in numerous solo and group performances at various competitions. In 2023, I proudly obtained my Certificate II in Dance from the National College of Dance.

I am currently studying for my Certificate IV at NAISDA. I look forward to fully engaging in a community that respects and honours the cultures and learnings of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, seeking a connection with my ancestors through the art of movement.

In the future, I hope to dance with a prestigious Australian dance company such as Bangarra Dance Theatre, ADT or Sydney Dance Company. I would like to tour Australia sharing and learning on Country with communities.
