Yaama, my name is Gary Cheng. I am a proud man from Wiradjuri, Yamaji, Wajarri Country – those mobs spread from New South Wales, Western Australia and the Northern Territory. I was born on Larrakiya Country up in the Northern Territory. I am 19 years old and have spent the majority of my life in a small town called Cowra, New South Wales. Before I started dancing, I played a lot of sports including rugby league, football, squash, volleyball and basketball. I started dancing when I was 15 and began full-time training at NAISDA from the age of 18. I am currently studying for my Certificate IV and am in my second year at NAISDA. When I graduate, my aspiration is to become a multidisciplinary dancer, aiming to perform with renowned companies like Bangarra Dance Theatre. My goal is to travel the world, sharing my passion for dance on international stages.
