Lucy Guerin Inc (LGI) in collaboration with NAISDA and Joel Bray Dance have created this program to advance the professional development of NAISDA graduates into the professional dance sector.
In 2025, a NAISDA graduate will join Lucy Guerin Inc and Joel Bray Dance for a four-week paid internship in Melbourne, including:
A two-week secondment with LGI, between Tuesday 11 March 2025 – Friday 28 March 2025
A two-week secondment with Joel Bray Dance, between Monday 5 May 2025 – Friday 6 June 2025
This internship aims to offer the selected artist an introduction to life as an independent dance artist in Melbourne and support them in developing strong connections to the professional dance industry.

This is a competitive application process. Applicants will be assessed based on the following criteria through the application form provided below:
The demonstrated benefit of this program to your practice
The artistic merit of your work. To be determined by the following support material attached with your application
Resume (limited to two pages)
Links to your most recent work (limited to five minutes. Please identify yourself in the work if you are performing with others)
Letter of Support from professional arts institution, artist, mentor, community member or other
Reviews of past work, links to websites, blogs, YouTube etc
Upon receipt, the NAISDA panel will evaluate the application. Shortlisted applicants who meet the criteria will undergo final selection by Lucy Guerin Inc. This process may involve a phone interview with Lucy Guerin Inc. and Joel Bray Dance for final selection.

LGI will provide the Graduate Intern with:
An Award-level wage, per diems, and accommodation for up to four weeks’ full-time engagement in Melbourne.
Up to two return economy class airfares from NSW to Melbourne. LGI will negotiate individual needs with the intern, including the option for LGI to book relevant travel arrangements, or to provide a travel allowance at an agreed value.
Access to various LGI programs free-of-charge, including Company rehearsals, professional classes and HOTBED workshops (scheduling dependent).
Digital check-ins with LGI before, during and after the internship period, to support deeper engagement across the program.
Access to an appropriate mentor (agreed upon by intern, LGI and NAISDA), who will support cultural safety and networking during the program.
