It was a beautiful and busy NAIDOC week this year as we celebrated with community and honoured our NAISDA Elders, knowledge holders, cultural tutors, mentors, artists, trainers, trailblazers and leaders.
We particularly acknowledged the galvanising force of our Founder and Artistic Director Emeritus Carole Y Johnson, and the early NAISDA innovators, visionaries and fighters who have paved the way for our growth and development. It was wonderful to welcome Carole back to campus just a few week’s earlier for NAISDA Graduation which celebrated our emerging leaders and artists as they start their own exciting journeys.

Celebrating NAIDOC on Darkinjung Land.
It was great to be part of two wonderful NAIDOC events this year, celebrating our Elders and acknowledging the traditional lands of the Darkinjung people at Barang’s Community Event and the Central Coast Community NAIDOC Day. We had a great time catching up with community, enjoying the beautiful sunshine and being part of the NAIDOC activities, attractions, workshops and fun. Our thanks to Barang Regional Alliance and Central Coast Local Health District’s (CCLHD) Aboriginal Health Unit Nunyara for hosting and organising such memorable events.
