Proppa Yarns – A Cultural Discussion - 09.11.16

As part of our 40th anniversary Circle of Cultures season, NAISDA invites you to attend Proppa Yarns, a very special, free event which will take place at Carriageworks on Saturday 19 November at 10am.

With this program, NAISDA opens the doors on conversations that can be shared about the underpinning values that give NAISDA its basis in Cultural Maintenance through dance and song.

To ‘Sit Down and Yarn’ is common practice amongst Aboriginal & Torres Strait Island peoples to share ideas and disseminate information. Combining this age old custom with creative outlets in sand painting and weaving, we invite community representatives and Alumni to share their journeys stories about their time with NAISDA – a starting place that could possibly enlighten others toward their goals in maintaining their connection with each community’s individual and unique timeless cultural practice.

  • Date: Saturday 19 November, 2016
  • Time: 10am – 1pm
  • Venue: Carriageworks, Eveleigh
