Jai Pyne (NAISDA music teacher) composed the music for the feature film Eora/Warrane, which will premiere in October at the Opera House.

Facing the Numbers is a genre pushing film anthology that explores First Nations disadvantage in Australia’s justice system. First Nations people make up 3.8% of Australia’s population, yet account for more than 35% of the adult prison system. Grounded in truth-telling, Facing the Numbers showcases the remarkable strength and resilience of First Nations people who are still here protecting Country, culture and community.

Jai worked on the film with First Nations creative agency Garuwa, directors Kieran Satour (Malngin, Pertame and Worimi) and Tyson Perkins (Arrernte & Kalkadoon). 

The film is a hybrid documentary/drama and also has some beautiful dance sequences featuring NAISDA student Chetachi Nwaogazi and former student Ephraim Bani; choreographed by NAISDA grad Beau Dean Riley Smith.
