NAISDA’s tour of the USA is progressing wonderfully, with our four delegates, Thomas ES Kelly, Taree Sansbury, Hans Ahwang and Artistic Director Emeritus and Founder of NAISDA Carole Y Johnson, taking the country by storm as they share our unique style of Australian Indigenous Contemporary Dance.

Speaking of her experience so far, Artistic Director Emeritus and Founder of NAISDA Carole Y Johnson has said:

“I have been here since January 13 and brought three NAISDA Indigenous dancers to attend the International Association of Black in Dance Conference in Denver for a week from January 18-24.

“We are now in Castle Rock about 40 minutes south of Denver working with High School dance majors in an IB dance program.

“It’s been great at both the Conference and High School. People have found our contemporary Indigenous dance style exciting and enlightening as another way to move,” she said.

The NAISDA team will be at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville all next week and on the 7th of February, will be going to Philadelphia for two weeks until 20th of February, studying at The University Arts.

The dancers will then be heading to New York for a few days to experience dance in the Big Apple and then back to Australia, where they will share their wonderful experiences with us all.

Be sure to follow the NAISDA Facebook page for regular updates from the team!
