Yvette Lapworth is a proud Darkinjung and Bundjalung woman who grew up on the North Coast before moving to Canberra in 2017. She is currently completing her Certificate IV in Dance Practice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples at NAISDA, after finishing her Certificate III in 2025.
In 2024, Yvette performed in NAISDA’s midyear production Wulbangadhi Wabarangya, directed by Katina Olsen and Jasmine Sheppard, and in Echoing the Future, directed by Charles Koroneho, appearing in Neville BoneyWilliams’ work Thigarilla Gunni.
Before joining NAISDA, Yvette trained for eight years at Streetbeat, a hip hop studio in Yass, NSW. She also studied dance throughout Years 11 and 12, where she discovered her passion for contemporary dance, choreography, and teaching, including working with local primary schools.
This year, Yvette is focused on strengthening her technique across all styles and deepening her connection to Country and culture. After graduating, she hopes to join a dance company or pursue freelance work that allows her to perform, create, and share her artistry with communities.
