Saxon Ianna is a proud Gumbaynggirr man. He grew up on the Central Coast of New South Wales and now lives on Lake Macquarie, where he continues to develop his connection to culture, community, and movement. Dance has been an important part of Saxon’s life from a young age. Throughout his high school years, he was deeply involved in traditional Aboriginal dance, learning not only performance skills but also the cultural knowledge, storytelling, and responsibility that comes with sharing culture through movement. These experiences shaped his identity and strengthened his commitment to keeping culture alive through the arts.
Saxon is currently completing his Certificate III in Dance Practice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, where he is continuing to build his technical skills, cultural understanding, and professional pathways within the performing arts.
Through dance, Saxon aims to honor his ancestors, represent his community with pride, and inspire others to engage with and respect Aboriginal culture.
