Peta-Louise Rixom

I am a proud Eora woman with Chinese heritage on my mother’s side. I have been involved with dance since four years old and came to NAISDA to increase my cultural knowledge to complement my dance training experience. Since enrolling at NAISDA, I have expanded my cultural knowledge, learning and performing dances and songs from Moa Island, Torres Strait under Dujon Niue and Berthalia Reuben; NSW cultural dances with Jo Clancy and Stu McMinn and Yolngu dances under Heather Mitjangba Burarrwanga and Tony Mudalyun Ganambarr. I also had the opportunity to explore aspects of my Chinese cultural heritage by choregraphing and composing an original score for the dance piece Wu Xing for the 2022 Diploma Choreographic Showing.
