Joshua Yow Yeh

Joshua Yow Yeh is a proud Aboriginal and Australian South Sea Islander man of the Bundjalung nation and Yugambeh language group with bloodlines from Mununjali, Minjungbal, Byelle, Kubbi Kubbi, Gooreng Gooreng. With heritage from Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands, New Caledonia and Sri Lanka. Born in Emerald, Central Queensland and raised in Mackay, Joshua grew up in a very cultural and talented family, watching his cousins and uncles perform dances for events including the Indigenous All Stars and The Commonwealth Games. Joshua started dancing in workshops at PCYC with Uncle Patrick Thaiday in 2020 and started a cultural dance group, Tchundal Mular, with Uncle Toasie Cora. He continued to perform Contemporary Torres Strait Islander dances in Mackay and travelled Queensland performing shows with Uncle Patrick. His interest in dance as a career was ignited after dancing with Bangarra’s Rekindling Youth program in 2022. He then performed with the Yugambeh Dancers and Uncle Luther Cora and Arc Circus for a contemporary modern interpretation of a traditional Indigenous story How the Birds got their colours on the Gold coast in 2022 and 2023 and then in Syndey and Perth in 2024. Joshua aspires to build a career in the arts with a focus on music, dance and film.
