Erica Dixon

Erica is a proud Gomeroi woman born and raised in the small country town of Bingara, Northern NSW. Erica is currently studying at NAISDA under the direction of Deon Hastie with a focus on contemporary and cultural dance. She has participated in many workshops and performances with leading Australian-based artists. Erica has also been a part of the development and performance of NAISDA’s 2021 to 2023 mid-year and end-of-year productions. During her time at NAISDA, Erica has grown to love Contemporary Indigenous Dance and enjoys connecting with an audience whilst telling stories through movement. Her time working with Jannawi Dance Clan is a particular dance career highlight. In the future, Erica sees herself working on projects focussed on storytelling and sharing her people’s culture. In 2024, Erica received a Cadetship with the Australian Ballet’s Education and Outreach Team. This enabled her to travel to remote Australian communities to perform and teach workshops in schools. As a creative, Erica loves to explore movement with natural elements for example, water, raffia and dirt. She enjoys exploring how these physical materials shape her movement.
