Alyviah Allen

My name is Alyviah Allen, I am 16 years old, born and raised on Gimuy Land, Cairns, Queensland. My father is Yidinji/Kuku Thaypan and Torres Strait Islander. My mother is of Filipino/South African heritage. Dance has been my passion the past eight years in many genres including RAD ballet, contemporary, tap and cultural. Along with my technical training, I have completed ballet, jazz and tap exams as well as competed in many competitions across Far North Queensland. My training and discipline have enabled me to become a very diverse dancer. Over the past three years I’ve trained with Miriki Performing Arts. This has given me the cultural learning and safety to participate and perform Aboriginal Contemporary Dance. I have performed and participated in a number of cultural projects and productions. As a dancer, a highlight has been performing for Dr Fiona Foley’s project film ‘Janjari’ on K’gari country. I love dance as a way of expression and storytelling. After graduating from NAISDA, I aspire to join Bangarra Dance Theatre.
