Celebrations will begin at 4.30pm with a community BBQ. At 5pm NAISDA’s Developing Artists will give voice to the richness of our stories, lands and peoples through a twilight performance of dance, language and song in the NAISDA Studio.
We are privileged that the evening will feature dances shared by NAISDA’s cultural tutors from Mua Island in the Torres Strait, Dennis Newie, Peli Ware and Harry Newie. Performance time is 70 minutes – no interval.
The words Nhangara Ngangga mean Dance Talk and have been respectfully gifted to NAISDA from the Darkinjung Language.
Reflecting the powerful voice of dance and this year’s NAIDOC theme ‘Voice Treaty Truth’, they are a proud declaration of our connection and belonging to our creative, nourishing home on Darkinjung Land.
Please note that due to the popularity of this event, it is now sold out. A wait list has been created, should extra spaces become available.
