As part of NAISDA’s 2019 Cultural Residency program, NAISDA Developing Artists and staff were privileged to host Cultural Tutors from Mua Island in the Torres Strait.
Over the week, Dujon Niue, Peli Ware and Harry Newie (Arpaka Dance Team) shared stories, songs and dance with the DAs with the assistance of NAISDA sessional Cultural Trainers Berthalia Reuben and Luke Currie Richardson.
This residency was the College’s inaugural learning experience in our new Dancing Ground and Living Learning Space.
Dujon expressed how inspired he was by the new learning space:
“I felt connected to the breath of this country, and it gave me permission to create.”
