In June, NAISDA was honoured to take part in FLIGHT, the third Collaborative Project as part of ARTS8.

ARTS8 is the national body of elite performing arts organisations supported by the Australian Government and consists of NAISDA, The Australian Ballet School, the Australian Youth Orchestra, the Australian National Academy of Music, the National Institute of Dramatic Art, the Flying Fruit Fly Circus, the National Institute of Circus Arts and the Australian Film, Television and Radio School.

ARTS8 undertakes a collaborative project yearly, in which staff and students engage in a student-led pluri-disciplinary project as a unique, national community of practice. The subject of the 2018 ARTS8 collaboration was flight, drawing on a broad and diverse rendering of flight as both a concept and an action.

NAISDA Developing Artists Aroha Pehi (Diploma) and Georgia Gear (Cert IV) both represented NAISDA at the collaboration, along with trainer Craig Bary.

The collaboration was an opportunity for students from all training bodies to engage with like-minded practitioners, trainers and mentors while experiencing different performing arts practices, from acrobatics to film production.
